Retro Metro is a friendly place to talk about old games, and these rules keep it that way. They apply everywhere on the site: threads, replies, handles, signatures and profiles.
1. No ROM piracy. No exceptions.
Don't share, link to, ask for or trade copies of commercial games, BIOS files, or anything else you don't have the right to share. That includes "abandonware", download sites, torrents and "check your DMs". Talking about games, collecting, repairs and emulation are all welcome. The only ROMs on Retro Metro are the ones in the ROM Library, which their makers released for anyone to share. Posts that break this rule are removed on sight.
2. Be kind.
Treat other riders the way you'd like to be treated, and disagree with ideas, not people. No personal attacks, harassment, bullying or threats, whether they start here or are carried over from somewhere else. Everyone was a Day Pass rider once, so be patient with newcomers.
3. No hate. Zero tolerance.
No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia or hate speech of any kind, and no slurs, even "as a joke". Never attack anyone for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age.
4. No politics.
Leave politics, elections and religious debate at the station door. There are plenty of places on the internet for them, and this isn't one. Game history that touches on real events is fine, as long as the conversation stays on the games.
5. Keep it clean.
No sexual content, no gore or shock content, and nothing illegal. Keep posts suitable for a general audience.
6. No spam or scams.
No advertising, referral links, or posts that exist only to promote something. Sharing your own homebrew or projects on Homebrew & Dev is welcome. Trading your own gear on Collecting is fine too, but Retro Metro isn't part of the deal, so trade carefully.
7. Ride the right line.
Post on the line that fits your topic, and search before you start a new thread. Keep replies on the thread's topic. The Lounge is there for everything else.
8. Respect privacy.
Don't post anyone's personal information, such as addresses, phone numbers, or real names or photos they haven't shared themselves. Never share your password. Nobody from Retro Metro will ever ask you for it.
9. One rider, one pass.
One account per person. Don't pretend to be another rider, a Conductor or a real person, and don't use a second account to get around a ban.
How we enforce them
The Conductors, our moderators, wear the Conductor pass. They can edit or remove posts, lock threads, and remove riders who break these rules. Most problems get a friendly word first. Piracy and hate don't.
